Detail of the lower level of the Group 3 sculpture depicting St James the Less, No 36, Madonna and Child, No 37, and St George and the Dragon, No 38, after conservation.  This closer view shows the importance of treating the architectural settings of these weathered sculptures.  The condition of the ornate canopies, shafts and frieze was extremely poor prior to treatment.  The selection of tools and choice of materials had to be carefully considered and reassessed at each stage of treatment.
