Crouching Lion Group 2, No 24, Zone D, South East Corner
Buttress.
This
wonderful carving is a decorative springer stone for the
pinnacles in Zone D.
Before conservation these sculptures had lost some of
their dramatic impact.
Note here that this stone is fixed in it’s natural bed
although
there is evidence of weathering through the weak horizontal
beds.
