Born 6th June 1939, Gordon spent most of his early childhood on the Fife coast of Scotland before moving with his family to Reading, Berkshire.

He trained at Carlton Studios in London where he concentrated on figurative illustration and studied life drawing and painting at Reading University.

In the mid-70's  he gave up illustration work altogether to devote his time to paintings, which at that time were predominately in oils. Success came quite rapidly, showing at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibitions in London and later at the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours.

His paintings of girls in natural surroundings soon became his trade mark, and the popularity of the watercolours in the early 1980's, together with the success of his prints, limited editions, and silk screens, brought him the high profile which he has today.

 .

Gordon lives and works at his studio in Buckinghamshire and exhibits world-wide. He has been featured painting live on a number of television programmes, including the BBC 2 arts series 'Close Up' and Channel 5's 'Open House'. He is actively involved in charitable work, such as projects for Save The Children Fund and the BBC's ' Children in Need' appeal.

In 1995 his first book ' A Romance with Art' was published, with a forward by HRH The Princess Royal, and his second book 'Drawn to Life' was published in 1999 to celebrate his 60th birthday. That year he also received the prestigious award from the Fine Art Trade Guild, who voted him 'Published Artist of the Year'.
